Identity theft and identity fraud are terms used to refer to all types of crime in which someone wrongfully obtains and uses another person's personal information in a way that involves fraud or deception, usually for their own personal financial gain.
Could I be a Victim?
YES! In this day and age, with the vast technologies available, we are ALL susceptible to identity theft and/or internet fraud. Even if you do not shop online or give information over the phone, you could still be victimized. Criminals can attack computer systems of financial organizations, stores, healthcare facilities, credit bureaus, and even governmental entities. With the seemingly endless possible methods of invasion, we are all potential victims.

File a report with the Federal Trade Commission HERE. You will find more information on their website. It's wise to monitor your credit report closely and follow suggestions from your banking institute, credit bureaus, and the FTC.
